WPD Garden Box Update

On Wednesday, I got the chance to plant some fall vegetables in the garden box at Patrol-South Wichita Police Station. While the box was installed a while ago, it recently was muraled by artist Juanta Saunders Jr., a friend who has been doing some great community work in SoCe.

After pulling weeds and preparing the dirt, I planted bush beans, beets, and chard. The officer who is currently overseeing the station stopped by and we had the chance to chat about SoCe Life, the Neighboring Movement, and the purpose behind the garden box - creating a connection between the SoCe neighborhood and the police department.

As we work with the police station to provide sustainable, organic food, we can't wait to see how the partnership between the community and the police station grows - just like our fall vegetables.
