We are seeking another AmeriCorps Vista to join us at the Neighboring Movement. V.I.S.T.A. stands for Volunteer In Service To America. These positions are federally funded in partnerships with non-profits across the country.

Vista’s are paid a stipend of roughly $900/month (after taxes). They have an option to receive free health insurance and are given an educational stipend of $6500 at the end of their first year to use on tuition. Applicants who are willing to live in the SoCe Neighborhood will be eligible for an additional housing stipend.

This will be the third Vista position we’ve had at the Neighboring Movement. This person will be responsible for working with our 8 Front Doors Listening Team. They will oversee 12 high school students and 6-10 adult volunteers whose main task is to listen to the neighbors of the SoCe Neighborhood and create a resource of neighbors’ interests, hobbies, and strengths for each block in the target area.

The Vista will be responsible for encouraging, tracking, and monitoring the Listening Team’s work. They will be the primary contact for the members of the Listening Team.

The second half of the Vista’s year will be spent connecting the neighbors who we have met as part of the process outlined above. This will include identifying volunteer leaders on each block and helping them host block parties and connect with their neighbors.

If you think this position is right for you to apply today via the AmeriCorps Vista website. If you have questions or would like more information contact Adam at adam@neighboringmovement.org or 316-285-7799.
