Connecting Neighborhood Assets!

We are currently working in partnership with our South Central Neighborhood Association, Legacy Ministries, and ClearTalk communications to develop a community garden on a lot that currently has a cell tower on it (75% of the lot is wide open). The first step is to put a fence on the property to protect the efforts of future gardeners. So, we looked at our asset map to see if there were any fence companies in our neighborhood. Sure enough, there was one that we had met: a small company run by a neighbor named Ruben. We collected bids and Ruben’s bid was the lowest—and the nearest!

This week Ruben and his team began installing the fence. It is exciting to see progress happening on the lot, and it is even more exciting to see a neighbor sharing his gifts and earning a living at it!
