Gabby's Peruvian Restaurant--Professor Food Returns!
/It's been a while since I broke out my pen and taste buds, so I was ready to go. Never having had Peruvian Cuisine before and always eager to try most other countries' food, Matt & Catherine invited me to supper at a Peruvian Restaurant that moved close to our 'hood at Seneca & McCormick.
Well you've heard the saying, 'don't call me late for supper.' Welp, I was late by 15 minutes because I overslept (for those of you that don't know my money job, I'm working 3rd shift).
At dinner I tried a dish called Calamari Frito and the Ceviche Mixto. The latter consisted of calamari, tilapia, and shrimp in a lime sauce and served cold. The calamar frito was like onion rings except it was calamari rings.
Matt, being the adventerous one, had the Arroz Con Pollo with Papa a la Huancaina. Our former SoCe intern Claire would know what that was, but it was chicken on rice. And Gata (aka Catherine) had the Tofu Saltado minus the tofu. They have a vegetarian section on their menu. We had this drink called Chicha Morada which was a blend of purple corn, pineapple, cinnamon, cloves, lime juice, sugar and water. I also had iced tea. For dessert we had shortbread cookies with dulce de leche.
I found everything very good! The waitress we had was very informative and helpful. It was an entertaining time out with friends and neighbors. I recommend Gabby's Peruvian Restaurant very highly. And plus, if you are planning an event they also have catering service.
Til the next time, enjoy what you eat and keep smiling!
