Mt. Vernon Block Party!

One word: WOW! 

More words? Okay. What a wonderful event! It was great to see the church pulling out all the stops to be hospitable to the neighborhood. And it was great to see that so many folks from the neighborhood came to hang out. The food was delicious, the kids activities were fun, the car show was a great idea, and the band (Brutal Bear) was pretty good! 

It was a beautiful reminder that churches can play an important role in helping neighbors connect with each other. Such connections help improve the health of the neighborhood by reducing crime and isolation, as well as increasing home-resident longevity and economic activity. Not to mention it was SO MUCH FUN!
