52 Weeks of Neighboring - 7/30

Tip of the Week – Work on an outside project, like washing your car, and allow time to have a conversation with a neighbor or someone walking by.

Like barbequing, working on an outside project in your front yard or street is a great way to make yourself accessible to your neighbors. Be sure to make yourself not only physically available to your neighbors, but mentally as well. If you’re in a rush or excessively tired, your mental preoccupation can hinder a quality conversation.

Because you’re making yourself available to your neighbors, you may have to change the priority and purpose of your project. Intentionally dedicate your time to neighboring, instead of finishing your project. Think of it this way: neighboring is the goal; working on your project is the method. Besides, if your experiment goes well and you get the chance to chat with a few neighbors, you might not get much of your project done anyway.

If you’ve completed this neighboring experiment and have a story to tell, we’d love to hear it. Tell us through social media, an email, or even stop in the office and have a cup of coffee with us.

Happy neighboring!
