First Block Connector Gathering

Block Connectors and Neighborhood Animators! 

On Thursday, December 1, we had our very first Block Connector Training and it was WONDERFUL! Susan and Alex joined us (2 more will be coming), and they are already gifted at neighboring. Spending the evening with them got me fired up to get this model started!  

Now, if you aren’t familiar with the phrase Block Connector, it is a person on each block who meets their neighbors and asks three questions: 
1. What makes a neighborhood great?
2. What interests and hobbies do you have that you would like to meet with other neighbors about?
3. What skills do you have that you would be willing to share with neighbors? 

The Block Connectors are the essential ingredient to neighboring because they are meeting people face-to-face, building relationships and forming connections. 

At our training we spent time talking about the Abundant Community Network (our name for this model of neighboring) and we talked about the work the Block Connectors will be doing. We’re starting with just a few Block Connectors because they are helping us learn how this works. The best part is that our Block Connectors are AWESOME! They totally get it. The beauty is that the Abundant Community Network names the importance of what they are doing, and it helps blocks get connected all across the SoCe neighborhood.
