52 Weeks of Neighboring - Week 11
Neighboring Tip of the Week - Celebrate a random holiday with your neighbors.
Good day, friends!
This week, we propose a tip that was inspired by one of our neighborhood animators, Rhonda. Her idea is so simple and yet so brilliant that we just couldn’t resist sharing the experiment in neighboring tip format. The tip is this: Celebrate a random holiday with your neighbors.
Rhonda is such an amazing neighbor, we interviewed her for an episode of our podcast. During the interview, Rhonda told us about a time that she wanted to find a reason to celebrate with her neighbors. We loved this idea, as part of neighboring is simply finding fun ways to bring neighbors together. What better way to do so than to celebrate something! We also loved the way that Rhonda found a reason to celebrate with her neighbors...she simply Googled “random holidays”! A Google search of “random holidays” yields precisely 107,000,000 results in 0.64 seconds. Who knew finding reasons to celebrate with neighbors could be so simple and speedy?!
With such holidays as “Space Day”, “Tap Dance Day”, or “Lumpy Rug Day”, who doesn’t want to have a lighthearted celebration with their neighbors? Of course, there are more popular random holidays, a couple of which are coming up. May Day and STAR WARS Day are both next week, so maybe you would like to deliver May Day baskets to, or have a movie marathon with, your neighbors. However this may look for you, we encourage you to celebrate a random holiday with your neighbors!
If you have not yet heard the full interview with Rhonda on episode 3 of our podcast, “The Neighbor Next Door”, you should give it a listen. We get that we are biased, but it is awesome! You can find “The Neighbor Next Door” on iTunes, Spotify, Stitcher, and Google Play.
Happy neighboring!
