52 Weeks of Neighboring - 7/29

Tip of the Week – Work on an outside project, like washing your car, and allow time to have a conversation with a neighbor or someone walking by.

Like barbecuing, working on an outside project in your front yard or street is a great way to make yourself accessible to your neighbors. There is one key difference, the top priority is neighboring, the project is less important. Think of it this way: neighboring is the goal; working on your project is the method. The fact is that if your neighboring experiment goes well and you get the chance to chat with a few neighbors, you might not get much of your project done.

I recently heard of a good neighbor who loves to golf. He started cleaning his golf clubs in his front yard. Through that simple change he has gotten to know new neighbors and built friends. It's as simple as that!

Happy neighboring!
