52 Weeks of Neighboring - 7/1

Tip of the Week – Celebrate the 4th of July! (Or Canada Day if you are one of our neighbors to the north!)

Get out the sparklers and hot dogs – the fourth of July is right around the corner, and Canada Day is celebrated on July 1. These summer holidays offer fantastic neighboring opportunities. Here is a quick brainstorm list we came up with:

  • If you’re feeling adventurous roll out the grill and invite your neighbors to a BBQ!
  • If you plan to shoot off fireworks, invite neighbors to come be a part of the fun.
  • If your community does a big fireworks show, invite a neighbor to go with you to enjoy the show. (Bonus points if it's a neighbor you don't know well.)
  • If you have kids in your neighborhood, invite them to decorate the block with sidewalk chalk. Have them create some fun summer/fourth of July themed pictures on your sidewalk and driveway. Be sure to have the proper parent and neighbor permission before you start chalking. Imagine your street lined in sidewalk chalk drawings. That’s the best kind of curb appeal!

Do you have other ideas? Tell us about them on Facebook or Twitter. Don’t forget the hashtag #52WeeksofNeighboring.

Happy neighboring!
