52 Weeks of Neighboring - 5/13

Neighboring Tip of the Week - Reflect on the neighboring experiments you’ve tried during the last few months. Journal your thoughts, or share them in a conversation with a friend.

Happy Mother's Day!

If we only do something once and never think about it again, it is less likely to stick. By reflecting on our neighboring experiences, we not only have a better chance of doing them again but also we have a chance to explore why some of them failed. Even if this is your first tip with us, take this opportunity to reflect on your past neighboring experiences. As we keep in mind that we are free to fail, and as we reflect upon past experiences, we will also have a chance to learn more about ourselves.

Step 1: Look back over the neighboring tips:

  1. Welcome to the next chapter of 52 Weeks of Neighboring! As we transition into this next chapter, here is some information we would like to share
  2. Double your favorite recipe and share extra with a neighbor. Take your dog for a walk or ask a neighbor who walks about their dog.
  3. Send a thank you card to your City Councilperson
  4. Take your dog for a walk or ask a neighbor who walks about their dog.
  5. Ask a neighbor to help you with a spring cleaning project.
  6. Slow down and notice something new about your neighborhood each day this week.
  7. Borrow something, like a tool or a cake pan, from a neighbor.
  8. Plant a garden in your FRONT yard.
  9. Take a walk in your neighborhood and collect trash.
  10. Make an intentional space on your calendar to be present to your neighbors.
  11. Deliver a May Day Basket to your neighbors.
  12. Send a thank-you card to the neighbor you borrowed something from last month.

Step Two: Reflect:

·      What neighboring experiment was your favorite and why?

·      Was there one experiment at which you really failed? Even if you just failed to attempt the practice, that counts. What might that failure teach you about yourself?

·      As you look over the list, are there one or two tips that would be beneficial to do again or to try now that you may be more comfortable with your neighbors?

Happy reflecting, and happy neighboring!
