Professor Food Reviews Kelly's Family Diner

Happy Holidays from Professor Food - a.k.a. Amazon man (when I'm not eating or writing food reviews, I deliver packages for Amazon).

This morning (Friday, December 1) I had the pleasure of enjoying a new eatery in the SoCe neighborhood. You may have read the recent article about Kelly's Family Diner in the Wichita Eagle. Kelly's is in the old Mike's Steakhouse location at 2131 S. Broadway in Wichita, 2 blocks north of Pawnee on Broadway on the west side of the street. The breakfast and service were top notch!

For once I can remember what the three of us ate. Catherine (a.k.a. Gata) had the biscuits and gravy. Her plate almost ran over the edges, as you can see in the picture below. Matt ordered the Western Omelet with wheat toast and I had the Ultimate Omelet with rye toast. Each of us had the skillet potatoes - they were delicious!

Kelly's Family Diner is open for breakfast and lunch from 7am to 3pm. They have all-you-can-eat fried chicken on Sundays. The breakfast menu has a wide range of options from chicken to chicken fried steak to omelets to 4 or 5 different styles of oatmeal and grits! The Diner is family-owned and operated. We got to visit with the owner, Kelly, and her daughter. They are great people. Kelly said she really wants the diner to be a comfortable place for families to eat together.

I give Kelly's Family Diner a big 6 star rating - that being the highest! I look forward to eating there again, and often. Please help us support this much-needed local diner.

Till later, enjoy the eating experience and the company that is with you,

-Professor Food

P.S. I went back to Kelly's this week and ordered the chicken-fried steak breakfast. Delicious!
