Andover UMC Youth Rock It! (Again)

Last Saturday was a gorgeous day. The weather was unseasonably warm, and I’m so grateful, because that morning a group of youth came with Evan from Andover UMC to help with a few projects in our neighborhood.

The first task was heading down to Legacy Ministry’s GardenWorks, to help Josh by raking leaves. GardenWorks is addressing a few issues because they 1) provide jobs to youth who might have a hard time getting a job, and 2) they grow vegetables and sell them at their farmstand, so that folks in SoCe can have a healthy alternative to the food sold in gas stations.

The group raked up leaves which will be used to enrich the soil for future crops.

Doesn't this group look like fun!!

After raking leaves, the group stopped by the LegacyWorks garden for some fresh veggies.

The second task was helping one of our neighbors by scraping the paint off her garage doors. It was fun to visit with our neighbor and her little dog who is an awesome guard dog--and a real sweetheart! As we worked, another neighbor stopped by to see what we were up to, and we had a great visit.

Great work!

When we finished, the neighbor with the garage doors mentioned that she would love to have someone paint a mural on the doors! The wheels are now in motion to make that happen, so stay tuned for more details!

To the youth and Evan, I can only say: THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! You guys ROCK!!!
